Why I Hate Insurance

If there’s one thing that drove us to start our cash-based physical therapy practice, it’s this: I hate dealing with insurance.

Insurance companies dictate everything — who you can see, how you’re treated, and how many sessions they’ll cover. They control what gets reimbursed and what doesn’t, forcing clinics to charge more just to get a fraction of what they’re owed. And who ends up paying the price? Patients and healthcare providers.

The truth is, insurance companies aren’t in the business of helping people heal. They’re in the business of making money. And that’s a system we didn’t want to be part of anymore.

How Insurance Hurts Patients

If you’ve ever tried to get help for an injury through your insurance, you know how frustrating it can be. You don’t always get to choose who you want to see. You’re stuck with whoever is “in-network,” even if that person isn’t the best fit for your needs.

And the wait times? Ridiculous. Your insurance might take days or weeks to approve your visits. In some cases, they require you to try “Step 1” or “Step 2” treatments before you can even address your real issue.

Here’s what happens in that time:

An acute injury becomes a chronic one.

What starts as localized pain turns into a more global, long-term problem.

By the time you’re finally approved for treatment, you’ve lost valuable time and progress.

We see this over and over again. Patients get stuck in a system that makes it harder to heal, not easier.

Why We Chose Cash-Based Physical Therapy

We didn’t want to be part of a system that puts red tape and bureaucracy between a patient and their recovery. That’s why we chose to go cash-based.

By cutting out insurance, we cut out the nonsense. There’s no waiting for approvals, no restrictions on how we treat someone, and no middlemen telling us what we can or can’t do.

Instead, we get to focus 100% on the patient.

We spend one hour with each person — really listening to their story, their pain, and their goals.

We get to treat the root cause of the issue, instead of doing surface-level fixes dictated by insurance codes.

Patients invest in their health because they’re investing directly in their care — and in us.

When people come to us, they’re ready to get better. They’ve been through the system, seen doctor after doctor, and gotten little to no direction. We give them a different experience — one that’s focused on results, not red tape.

Why This Model Works Better for Everyone

Patients who come to a cash-based practice aren’t just looking for quick fixes. They’re ready to take control of their health.

In a traditional clinic, patients are often rushed through appointments, left with unanswered questions, and sent home with generic exercises. We don’t do that.

We take the time to understand each patient’s unique story and build a personalized plan that works. That’s why we’ve seen patients get stronger, heal faster, and stay healthier longer.

For us, this isn’t just a better way to practice. It’s the only way we want to practice.

Final Thoughts: Healthcare Without the Hassle

We’ve seen firsthand how broken the traditional healthcare system is. Insurance companies don’t prioritize your health. They prioritize their bottom line.

But there’s another way. Cash-based physical therapy removes the nonsense and gives you what you really need: one-on-one care focused on your recovery.

We’re here to provide better care — for you, for your family, and for your future.
